Liverpool reignite interest in SSC Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski
According to Meczykipl (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool have reignited their interest in 28-year-old SSC Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski. The tweet from the foreign outlet read:
“Liverpool are interested once again in Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski. The Reds are VERY serious and his contract ends in 2024 – with extension talks very difficult at the moment and a summer departure likely.”
Zielinski has been linked with Liverpool for a long time and was close to joining the Reds when he was plying his trade at Udinese.
A move did not materialise and Zielinski ended up joining Napoli. He has since made 325 appearances to date, scoring 47 goals in the process. The Pole is a very able box-to-box midfielder who will fit well in our all-action midfield.
His current contract at Napoli ends in June 2024 and there have been no inclinations that the player will sign a contract extension.
LFC must sign him
Therefore, it presents a very good opportunity for other clubs to swoop in and Liverpool have been one of the clubs to show interest in the Polish midfielder. While there is much less noise about the player, he truly is one of the most underrated midfielders from Serie A.
One of the catalysts behind Napoli’s run to the Scudetto, he would be a very shrewd signing for Liverpool if the club is able to pull such a deal. He will add experience, energy and creativity to our bland and ageing midfield.
He is suited for the system under Jurgen Klopp, very similar to the one at Napoli and would be an upgrade on the current midfield options. It remains to be seen whether the club will advance their interest in the player but for now, it is definitely one profile to be kept an eye on in the summer transfer window.

Hopefully, Zielinski sees his Serie A win with Napoli as the end of his cycle in Italy. A new adventure awaits him at Anfield and hopefully, he is also eager to complete a move that didn’t materialise earlier in his career.
