Tottenham Hotspur join the race to sign Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher
As per Irish Independent, Tottenham Hotspur join Brighton and Brentford in the race to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
Kelleher’s contract at Anfield lasts until the summer of 2026 (Transfermarkt), having signed an extension in the summer of 2021.
But, with no deep cup run for the Reds in domestic competitions, the Irish keeper has managed to play only three games this season so far. He is now keen to move elsewhere to play regular minutes.
With Alisson Becker at the peak of his career and looking in exceptional form, it is tough for the 24-year-old to break into the number-one slot in the Liverpool team.
Liverpool will not stand in Kelleher’s way and allow him to leave this summer, only if a club matches the club’s valuation of £20m for the player.
Although Hugo Lloris’ contract at Tottenham runs until next summer (Transfermarkt), the Frenchman has hardly been convincing in the last few seasons. Backup goalie Fraser Forster is past his sell-by date, to be honest. So, we can understand why the North London club are interested in the Irishman.
While everything looks good and rosy in terms of Kelleher and him wanting to move away from Liverpool, the Reds would need to get a proper number two to supplement Alisson in the coming seasons.
Will they ask Adrian to stay for another couple of seasons and just play the cup games? It is a possibility.

Moreover, if the Reds are selling Kelleher, they can include a buy-back clause in his contract. Once that is the case, the club can sign him back once Alisson is done with his time at Anfield. Let’s hope this trick is applied and the future of the Irishman remains at this club.
