Liverpool among many clubs who recently scouted 24-year-old RC Lens star

Liverpool and Manchester United scout RC Lens defender Kavin Danso

Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United were apparently two of the several teams that scouted RC Lens star Kevin Danso in their 2-1 Ligue 1 win against Olympique de Marseille on May 6.

This is according to 90min, via Manchester Evening News, who add that Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves) were also present at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

What is special about Danso? For one, he is part of a defence that has shipped the least goals in Ligue this season. Lens have let in just 26 strikes in 34 league games.

They also trail league-leaders Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) by just six points with four games remaining. Danso is a very crucial part of what this impressing Lens side is achieving under Franck Haise.

What next for Danso?

He has featured in 37 games, scoring once and assisting twice this season. One of those two assists came in the win against Marseille.

Danso is just 24 years old and has experience playing in England to an extent. He spent time at Reading and MK Dons’ youth academies and was even loaned to Southampton for the 2019-20 season, although he played just 10 times for them.

Danso, who has also played for the likes of Augsburg and Fortuna Dusseldorf in the past, would know the huge step up it would be for him to join a club like Manchester United and Liverpool.

But the question is, can both teams give him instant playing time over the likes of Newcastle, Villa and Wolves? Manchester United have Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Raphael Varane.

More Liverpool News:

The Reds have Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate. Unless one of these players leaves in the near future, it doesn’t make sense for us to sign Danso right this instant. It would be good to get a headstart and sign him early before his valuation rises, but it remains to be seen if we can promise playing time to the Austria international.
