Chelsea can offer Levi Colwill in exchange to trump Liverpool to Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister
According to The Express, Liverpool could be dealt a blow by Chelsea in their pursuit of Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old has impressed for club and country of late and was a key component of the latter’s World Cup-winning squad last year. He appears set to leave The Amex next summer and has no shortage of options.
Liverpool are in the market for several midfielders and are among the frontrunners to land Mac Allister. The Argentine’s energy and ability on the ball is exactly what Jurgen Klopp needs and will add balance to the Reds’ roster.
Chelsea are another side in the fray and are seeking to leverage their relationship with Brighton to trump Liverpool to the player. The Blues signed Marc Cucurella and several backroom staff last summer.
Promising Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is currently on loan at the Amex with Roberto de Zerbi a huge fan. The Argentine recently said he would want to work with Colwill for ‘three to four’ years. The 20-year-old could be offered in part exchange for Mac Allister, offering Brighton the opportunity to secure both cash and a long-term addition to their defence.
Doing so will reunite Mac Allister with his international teammate Enzo Fernandez. The duo were a force to be reckoned with in Qatar and one can see why Todd Boehly is keen to reforge that relationship in Blue.
Chelsea, at this point in time, lack vision and a long-term goal. Fernandez’s arrival has not really galvanized them and the Argentine looks miles off the player who dominated midfield proceedings in Qatar.
Mac Allister is better off moving to Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp remains clear as to what he needs regarding his rebuild. The right players can get Liverpool competing for regular honors soon, much before Chelsea fix their rudderless ship.

Mac Allister’s energy and ability to progress the ball are key traits that Liverpool lacks in their midfield. Adding him to a roster that already has some key pieces in place will bring balance and dynamism to the starting XI. Liverpool should do all they can to secure the Argentine as he could prove to be a key player for years to come.
