Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool will battle Manchester City for PL title next season
Jurgen Klopp is confident that Liverpool will return to battling Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.
This has been a shockingly bad season for us, barring the last six games, which we have won in succession. We are fifth, trailing fourth-placed Manchester United by four points with just three games remaining in the season.
Not to mention, we have been dumped out of all cup competitions long back. But Klopp is confident that Liverpool will build a team capable of battling for the league title next season.
Manchester City have won the Premier League title four times in the last five seasons. Only we have denied the Cityzens from getting their hands on the league title during that time and have lost the race twice by just one point.
FSG must back Klopp
The two teams have had some epic title races in recent seasons and while Liverpool are currently struggling to make it into the top four, City are on course to win the league again. Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of his team’s game against Leicester City, Klopp said, via TheNationalNews.com:
“There are two games a season, maybe with cups three, four or five, when you play City, Arsenal and the others. There are five million ways to win a football game, you only have to find one. A successful season is [when] you are ready for all the games, that you can win 25-odd games.
“If City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham, Man United are all involved in that 25 then it is even better. But it is about can we create a team who can win the majority of the games? Yes, we can. It was never about what the other teams do. We didn’t become champions by a point twice and there will be some people who say it was because we didn’t have this player in that moment.”
Many fans would feel that Liverpool’s lack of activity in transfer windows – at least when it comes to strengthening properly in the concerned positions – has led them to underachieve. Fenway Sports Group (FSG) must back Jurgen Klopp this summer.
They simply cannot go another window without sponsoring several world-class midfield additions. A new centre-back wouldn’t hurt and we can also use a forward for depth. Passion, desire and intensity are all well and good.

But when you have to take on a behemoth like Manchester City – now strengthened even further by the goal machine that is Erling Haaland – you need world-class players and for that, you need to spend. Our PL title credentials will depend on how well we spend this summer.
