Transfer News: Real Madrid could accept Liverpool offer for Aurelien Tchouameni

Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni is back on the radar of Liverpool, as per Catalan outlet El Nacional.

Jurgen Klopp notably failed to sign him last summer from AS Monaco before he joined Real Madrid for a fee of €100million with add-ons. Now, Liverpool are said to be planning an €80million offer for him – of which €20million would be in variables.

Tchouameni hasn’t been a pinned starter under Carlo Ancelotti. Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, meanwhile, don’t get any younger but are still expected to renew their contracts for another year this summer.

If Real Madrid sign a new left-back that takes over Ferland Mendy and Camavinga in the pecking order, the 20-year-old Frenchman can shift into central midfield again. That would, then, be another hurdle for Tchouameni in search of regular starts.

Tchouameni to Liverpool?

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez would apparently be willing to accept Liverpool’s offer for the former Monaco midfielder, especially considering the operation to sign Jude Bellingham could cross the €100million mark.

Liverpool cannot always keep hoping for the perfect name to be made available in the transfer market which they can sign for a low fee and develop into a world-beater. Sometimes, you have to spend for quality.

And that is especially the case if you are Liverpool – one of the world’s biggest footballing teams. If Tchouameni is open to moving to Anfield, the Reds should put everything behind getting his signature.

The 23-year-old is a strong box-to-box midfielder who would be a very useful addition to our midfield – one that is ageing, injury-ridden and devoid of creativity. His class is there for all to see and hopefully, Liverpool do table an official bid for him. What happens after that isn’t in our hands.

But we can’t not try. The likes of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Naby Keita will just cut it anymore. It is time we move on and rebuilt our midfield in the same way we have rebuilt our attack.
