“Nothing will phase him”- Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale says he admires Liverpool superstar for his ‘mentality’

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale says he admires Liverpool superstar for his mentality

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has lavished praise on Alisson Becker, praising the Liverpool custodian for his ‘mentality’.

The Brazilian is one of the most imposing figures between the sticks, who seems to make himself 10 ft tall and 10 ft wide in one-on-one situations.

He hardly ever makes mistakes but when he does, he doesn’t let it faze him. Given he is a ball-playing goalkeeper who likes to take risks, it is a part and parcel of his game.

But even if he gives away the ball carelessly or is dispossessed, he will not stop himself from trying to play a risky pass or dribble past an attacker. This is something Ramsdale admires.

Ramsdale praises Alisson

The former Sheffield United goalkeeper has made a big name for himself at Arsenal, especially this season. He has had poor games at times but overall, he has become the upgrade the Gunners were looking for nearly two years ago.

The 25-year-old England international told the Premier League’s official YouTube channel:

“Alisson is a very good one. He always has time for you at Liverpool. He’s probably one where you see his mentality, nothing will phase him. Mistakes, goals. So, he’s the goalie I look at mentality-wise and that’s where I want to get to.”

Alisson, 30, is one of the finest shot-stoppers in the modern game. It is hard to name a goalkeeper more complete than him. If Jan Oblak’s reflexes are elite, then his ability on the ball is not up there.

Same with David de Gea, who has spells with high inconsistency. Hugo Lloris has had poor spells at Tottenham Hotspur while Ederson Moraes, who is brilliant on the ball, is arguably not as reliable a shot-stopper as Alisson, especially in one-on-ones.

If Ramsdale gets to Alisson’s level, which he can, then he will certainly go down as a Premier League great. For now, there is a long way to go for the Arsenal star.
