Brentford feel Liverpool’s £15m valuation of Caoimhin Kelleher is unrealistic

As per Daily Mail, Brentford feel it is unrealistic for Liverpool to value goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher at around £15m.

A few days ago, the Irish Independent reported that Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Kelleher this summer. That report revealed Liverpool’s price tag to be around £20m for the Irishman.

Now, the latest is that Brentford are finding £15m as an unrealistic amount. Either this report is just that, or the West London club are not serious.

Kelleher is probably the best number two in the Premier League. He is just unlucky that Europe’s best Alisson Becker is in goal for Liverpool week in and week out.

Had the Brazilian not been here or left by now (touchwood not), the Irishman should have easily slotted in as the number one at Anfield. After all he was the hero of our Carabao Cup run last season.

Some of the 24-year-old’s performances in cup games or when called upon by Jurgen Klopp has been sensational. He is not only a great shot-stopper, but extremely calm on the ball.

One would think Liverpool are right in their stance to value Kelleher at a reasonable price. The Cork-born goalkeeper deserves to get more respect than what Brentford are deigning to give.

If the Bees are not interested, Tottenham might come in and buy the player. Spurs will lose Hugo Lloris this summer, as confirmed by multiple reports. They would need a new number one from next season onward.

Kelleher has the quality, composure, and confidence to take the gloves at Tottenham and do well.

As Liverpool fans, we can only hope that the 24-year-old returns to Anfield when Alisson leaves. He can have a first-team stint somewhere else, but come back in the future,
