Chelsea are not confident of retaining Liverpool target Mason Mount
According to the Guardian (h/t Liverpool Echo), Chelsea are not confident of keeping Mason Mount in the summer, with Liverpool deemed as a potential destination for the English International.
Mount will enter the final year of his contract once the season ends and there seems to be an impasse over his contract negotiations even with Mauricio Pochettino taking over the reins at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool are deemed to be a potential destination for the midfielder with Jurgen Klopp keen to employ Mount in his ranks. The former Champions League winner would add energy and invention to a rather bland Reds midfield.
Mount, still only 24, has a plethora of Premier League experience with 129 appearances under his belt and would be a great fit in Klopp’s system.
While there has been progression seen in Liverpool as of late with a resurgent run for a top-four finish, the dearth of young energetic midfielders is still a big issue that needs rectifying.
We need top-quality midfield options for us to be a dominant force again and compete for the trophies. Mount will provide us with just that and should be fired up to resurrect his career.
While we are stacked in attack and reasonably fine in defence, a good midfield will provide us with the perfect base to rebuild.
There is still a huge chance that we qualify for the UEFA Champions League qualification with just two games left to play in the Premier League.
We face an improving Aston Villa and Southampton, who have already been relegated in our last two games but there is a good chance of us securing maximum points out of these two games.
