Leeds United are interested in signing James Milner if they avoid relegation
As per Daily Mail (h/t Liverpool Echo), Leeds United would be interested in signing Liverpool midfielder James Milner if they avoid relegation.
Milner, who will be a free agent this summer upon the expiry of his contract at Anfield, has been vehemently linked with a move to Brighton and Hove Albion. Championship winners Burnley have also shown interest in him.
The recent report though suggests that Leeds cannot be ruled out in the bring the 37-year-old back to Elland Road, a club where his illustrious Premier League career started. But, that may depend on their status in English football in the summer.
Sam Allardyce’s men are currently 18th in the table, but only a point behind 17th-placed Everton with two games each to play. They have got games against West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur left. Both London clubs have nothing to play for in league terms, although the Hammers are vying to play the Europa Conference League Final.
Wherever Milner goes in the summer, we have to praise his impact at Liverpool for the last eight years. He arrived for free from Manchester City in 2015 and has been a key figure in the squad throughout.
The former England international has also been a manager’s dream. Jurgen Klopp played almost a full season with him at left-back (2016/17 season).
Off the field, the 37-year-old has a presence about him and people listen when he speaks. Although Jordan Henderson is the captain, Milner’s voice in the dressing room is as strong.

We wish him the best for next season and hope that he returns to Liverpool in some capacity. He has a demeanour of a manager. A job in the Liverpool Academy waiting for him in a few years’ time? Probably so.
