“Player of a similar ilk to Jude Bellingham”- Journalist urges Liverpool to sign 21-year-old Premier League star

Liverpool urged to sign Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa after Jude Bellingham failure

Liverpool have been urged to make a move for Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey after supposedly failing in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.

As per GOAL, via Liverpool.com, the 19-year-old England international will not come to Liverpool this summer. One name that has since been linked with us is Ramsey.

The 21-year-old Aston Villa midfielder is a joy to watch on the ball. He has the ability to glide past defenders and contribute in attack, something our central midfielders haven’t been doing on a regular basis.

According to respected journalist Ryan Taylor of the Express, the Reds should make a move for him as he would be a ‘great fit’ in their team and is a player who is ‘of the same ilk’ as Jude Bellingham

. He told GiveMeSport:

“Personally, I think he would be a great fit for someone like Liverpool because of his energy in midfield. I would say, lightly, he is a player of a similar ilk to Jude Bellingham. Bellingham is a powerhouse and when you watch him play, he plays with authority and grabs games by the scruff of the neck.

“I don’t think Ramsey will grab games by the scruff of the neck, but I think he has that sort of energy from midfield, arrives in the box and scores goals.”

What Liverpool need is a refresh in midfield and their tactics, especially in the middle of the park. Teams like Manchester City are switching things around recently when it comes to their tactics, which is necessary every few years because teams start to figure you out.

We shouldn’t be looking for three workhorse central midfielders again that barely contribute tangibly up front and are required to do intense defensive work. Someone like Jacob Ramsey would be a welcome addition and if he arrives, he should be given the freedom to attack.

Ramsey has shown he is Premier League level this season, scoring five goals and assisting six times in 36 games across competitions. He can take the next step by joining the Reds, but one would think Villa would either be hesitant to let him leave or place a big price tag on him.

Not only is he a homegrown player who is just 21 and has a high ceiling, his contract still has just over four years remaining (Transfermarkt).
