Manager Jurgen Klopp ‘urging’ Liverpool to sign Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella

Jurgen Klopp is believed to be keen on signing Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella at Liverpool.

The Italy international was in fine form for I Nerazzurri in the UEFA Champions League semifinals against AC Milan, helping his team record a 3-0 aggregate win. He is a complete midfielder.

Barella contributes at both ends of the pitch, as evident in his performances this season. The box-to-box midfielder can dribble, defend, pass and shoot.

He has eight goals and nine assists in 47 games this season. Liverpool, meanwhile, are in urgent need of a midfield revamp and it seems Barella has caught Klopp’s eye. According to  Inter Live, via Liverpool Echo, he wants the Reds to sign the 26-year-old.

What next for Barella and Liverpool?

He still has three years left on his contract at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium after this season (Transfermarkt). The Reds confirmed yesterday (May 17) that Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner will leave as free agents this summer.

Not only are we losing money considering we paid transfer fees for two of them, but we are also losing legs in midfield, albeit ones that have been warming the benches in recent months.

Jordan Henderson can desperately be upgraded on. Trent Alexander-Arnold shouldn’t be our permanent solution in central midfield while Thiago’s injury issues are well-known.

Barella would be a dream signing for many LFC fans. He has the makings of a world-class player, if he isn’t already, and would help the supporters forget about our failed pursuit of Jude Bellingham – to some extent, at least.

Barella is also at an age where he isn’t too young to be naive and inexperienced, and neither is he on the decline. He can even get better from here and enhance his reputation after joining us.
