Iberian transfer insider confirms Liverpool have agreement in place for World Cup winner

Pedro Almeida confirms Liverpool and Brighton have reached an agreement for Alexis Mac Allister

According to Portuguese transfer insider Pedro Almeida on Twitter, Liverpool and Brighton have reached an agreement for Alexis Mac Allister ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old has been one of the standout players in the Premier League this season as Brighton aim to secure European qualification. Mac Allister also shone for Argentina in Qatar as the South American giants won the world crown.

An energetic presence in the middle of the park, Mac Allister is the ball carrier that the Reds have lacked all season. While Curtis Jones has excelled in the role of late, the Brighton star is a massive upgrade capable of scoring and creating goals.

According to Almeida, both Brighton and Liverpool have reached a common consensus regarding a summer deal. It would appear that the Argentine will become the Reds’ first major summer addition.

Completing the deals early on is in our best interest. It will give Jurgen Klopp more time to work with his recruits and also acclimatise them to the style of football employed at Anfield.

Mac Allister alone won’t be enough and the Reds will need to add at least two more players to supplement him in central midfield. The likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Mason Mount, and Manuel Ugarte have all been linked with a move to Merseyside.

The new 3-4-3 variation has transformed our fortunes. While it might be too late to finish in the top four, the right additions could help us in the long run going forward.

We personally would take this news with a pinch of salt. As reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano confirms, an offer is on the table for Mac Allister but an agreement is yet to be reached. While we would like to think Almeida is right, we won’t be counting our chickens before they are hatched.
