Gavi not worried about Barcelona future amidst interest from Liverpool
Barcelona starlet Gavi is not worried about his future at the Camp Nou side amidst interest from the likes of Liverpool in the Premier League.
As things stand, the youngster is set to become a free agent at the end of the season. The Blaugrana had extended the 18-year-old’s contract earlier in the campaign, but the Spanish top flight did not register it.
Now, apart from the Reds, English top-flight rivals Manchester City and Chelsea have the midfielder on their radar. But speaking to Movistar (h/t Metro), he is calm about what the future holds.
“I want all of you to be calm on my future… I’m very calm. Since I was little I’ve wanted to stay at Barca, it’s my dream club, I always say it. Don’t worry, let everyone be calm.”
Gavi has been an important player for Barcelona since establishing himself in the starting lineup last season. The Spain international made his way through the Camp Nou side’s youth academy and is now a pivotal member of the first-team squad.
Xavi has an abundance of talent in the middle of the park. The Spanish gaffer can call upon the likes of Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri and Frank Kessie.
However, the 18-year-old has been ever-present in the former Al Sadd head coach’s plans. The youngster has often been deployed in various positions throughout the campaign.
Liverpool’s engine room has left a lot to be desired this season. Our established stars, Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho, have been inconsistent over the last few months.
Youngsters Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott have stepped up for Jurgen Klopp’s team in the 2022/23 campaign. Thankfully, in recent weeks, the Anfield side have managed to turn things around a bit.

However, we still evidently need a massive squad overhaul next summer. Gavi is an energetic and tenacious midfielder, which seemingly fits our style of play. But it remains to be seen whether the 18-year-old will be forced to leave Barcelona in the coming months.
