Liverpool join Manchester United in the race to sign Marc Guehi
As per Daily Mail (h/t Metro), Liverpool have joined direct Premier League rivals in the race to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.
Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the English defender, who was signed by Palace from Chelsea a couple of years ago. The latter are in need of a homegrown player to balance the structure of the squad.
Before the Aston Villa game, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was asked whether the club is looking to sign a defender in the summer window. Although the German laughed at the direct question, he did mention that they are looking at adding in every department, except the goalkeeper.
Guehi has been one of the best defenders when we look at players from teams outside the traditional top six. The 22-year-old has enjoyed two magnificent seasons in a Palace shirt and led their defence well despite being of such a young age.
The former Chelsea player is excellent at reading the game and making interceptions and he is comfortable with the ball at his feet. Under the former Palace manager Patrick Vieira, he was great at starting attacks from the back and making recovery runs from a higher defensive line.
Amidst all that, the thing to note is that Guehi is still only 22 years old. He is already an experienced Premier League player who seems to have a very high ceiling with regard to how far he can go in his career at an elite level.

Liverpool could do with a young and dynamic defender who is quick on his feet. The Crystal Palace man can help fill that gap. It remains to be seen whether Klopp and his staff would add him or get a more versatile player who can play centre-back and fullback.
