17-year-old forward signs new contract with Liverpool

Liverpool youngster Ranel Young signs new contract with the club

Liverpool FC announced via the club’s official website that talented winger Ranel Young has committed his future to the club by signing his first professional contract. Young, who joined the Reds as an Under-12s player from Huddersfield Town, has shown immense promise throughout his time in Liverpool’s Academy.

Impressing the coaching staff with his skill and determination, Ranel Young was promoted to the Under-18s squad last summer, a testament to his continuous development within the club. As an attacking player equally comfortable on either flank, the 17-year-old has showcased his abilities in various competitions and has rightfully, earned his first-ever pro contract.

Young made a significant impact this season notching four goals and providing an assist in his 17 U18 Premier League appearances. His performances caught the attention of both fans and scouts, highlighting his potential to become a future star for Liverpool.

Young also played in the UEFA Youth League for Liverpool, featuring in five matches for the Under-19s squad. Although the team was defeated in the quarter-finals by Sporting Lisbon, Young’s involvement in the tournament enhanced his growing reputation as a promising player.

Academy Players coming through for the Reds

He also made two appearances in the FA Youth League for the Reds, wherein the Liverpool youngsters couldn’t progress beyond the quarter-finals. However, his increasing minutes are surely an indication of the coaches’ belief in the youngster.

The Academy has given the first team a number of regulars in recent years including the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, Tyler Morton and Conor Bradley to name a few.

Hopefully, Young lives up to his potential and proves to be a contributing player for the senior team in the coming years. With his newly signed contract, the club would look to nurture Young’s talent, as he continues his development under the club’s guidance.
