Carlos Mac Allister to fly to England to seal Alexis Mac Allister’s move to Liverpool

According to Tyc reporter Cesar Luis Merlo on Twitter (h/t The Express), Carlos Mac Allister is expected to fly to England to complete his son Alexis Mac Allister’s move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

The Argentine international is coming off the back of an excellent season with club and country. Mac Allister played a key role in Argentina’s FIFA World Cup win before helping guide Brighton & Hove Albion to UEFA Europa League qualification.

The 24-year-old’s father Carlos is also his agent and should be a key voice in his son’s decision. Having him on board will certainly make the job easier for the Anfield recruitment staff.

Mac Allister is expected to leave The Amex this summer and cut an emotional figure in their final home game of the season last weekend. Seagulls boss Roberto de Zerbi more or less confirmed that the 24-year-old is on his way out.

Liverpool are believed to be in the front seat to land the South American and will do well to seal the deal as soon as possible. With the season coming to an end on Sunday, Liverpool can hopefully get the deal over the line on a priority basis.

According to Cesar, talks with Liverpool appear to be going well and will hopefully reach a good conclusion soon. He goes on to add that a deal will be agreed upon until 2028 with just the fine print left to be sorted out.

While personal terms with the player do not appear to be a problem, negotiations with Brighton is the next step. With Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City also interested, it is in our best interests to wrap up the deal as soon as possible.

The 2023 summer transfer window will open on June 14 and hopefully, we will have something to cheer about. After all, we have been waiting for a new midfielder for some time now.

We can’t afford to lose a player of his ilk to one of our rivals – especially Manchester City, whose midfield have always been a telling difference when the title race has gone down to the wire between them and us.
