Liverpool reject offer from RB Leipzig for 20-year-old starlet

Liverpool only want loan offers for Fabio Carvalho, hence rejected an offer from RB Leipzig

As per the Times (subscription required), Liverpool will resist permanent offers for Fabio Carvalho, hence rejected an offer from German side RB Leipzig.

Carvalho, who hardly played much in his first season at Anfield, got rousing feedback from the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp during the press conference before the game against Southampton.

The report states that a lot of Premier League clubs have enquired about the availability of the former Fulham attacking midfielder. The 20-year-old has shown time and again that he is a very able playmaker and Leipzig could be a good place for him to hone his skills.

But Liverpool see him as a future starter, therefore will only entertain any loan offers. Keeping that in mind, the idea might be to let him go to a club where playing time is guaranteed for the duration of a season and then judge whether he can make a difference here or not.

Although Leipzig made a permanent offer and that is why it was rejected, the Reds must make a deal with the German to take him on loan. Marco Rose’s team will play Champions League football next season, hence the experience gained there would be uplifting for the player.

The 20-year-old’s lack of game time at Anfield was a puzzle to most people. Klopp used to send him for substitute appearances for the last few seconds as if to insult the talent he has or just for the sake of racking up appearances for him (21).

Carvalho is a way more talented player than that. He deserves to play a lot of football at the age he is, be it in a Liverpool shirt or elsewhere.

If the idea of loaning him out is combined with the plan of offering him regular game time in the following season, then it’s okay. Otherwise, it would not make sense and that may discourage the player as well.
