Liverpool wish to ‘move fast’ to sign Alexis Mac Allister

In what could be extremely positive news for the club and the supporters, executives at Liverpool want to be as quick as possible in their quest of signing Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton over the summer.

Ben Jacobs wrote so in his exclusive CaughtOffside column also stating that Jurgen Klopp and Co. are ‘confident’ of landing the World Cup winner at Anfield. Makes sense why the Reds seem so keen on getting him on board as early as possible.

As we have seen in other transfer windows, Klopp generally likes all his players to join pre-season and it is not very different when it comes to the 24-year-old. With interest from other clubs as well, getting business sorted early will certainly be the most ideal of situations for Jorg Schmadtke, the new Liverpool Sporting Director.

Here is what Jacobs had to say via his exclusive CaughtOffside column:

“Liverpool are confident of landing Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. Talks are pretty advanced,”

“This is no surprise given Liverpool have a clear and firm plan in place for this summer and always like to get their business done early.

“(Brighton) handled the Mac Allister situation smartly by getting him to extend just before the World Cup thus protecting his value. Liverpool now want to move fast to avoid any late suitors attempting to hijack.”

Mac Allister to the Reds just a matter of time?

Seems like the Reds have learned enough from the Arthur loan deal. To bring in a player when under the gun is unlikely to meet expectations.

Having a player join the pre-season, talking through the requirements and style of play, and other formalities, the club could ensure that Alexis Mac Allister adjusts to new surroundings as quickly as possible to avoid lapses of any kind.

Mac Allister has been in great form this season, scoring 12 goals and getting three assists in 40 appearances across all competitions this season for the Seagulls.

With four players already confirmed to leave the Reds this season, it is almost certain that the Reds will reinforce their squad, and hopefully do so in large numbers since the midfield at this point in time is depleted.

Now, if the Reds feel confident of getting the Argentine international on board as quickly as possible, it is extremely crucial that the Reds get the player on board almost immediately and move on to other potential transfer targets with the hope to get them on board as quickly as possible too.
