Chelsea reject offer for Liverpool target Levi Colwill

Chelsea has made it clear that they are not willing to let go of their promising young defender, Levi Colwill, despite interest from Liverpool.

The 20-year-old, who impressed during his loan spell at Brighton under Roberto de Zerbi, has been the subject of speculation regarding a potential big-money move away from Stamford Bridge.

However, as per the Evening Standard via ECHO, Chelsea reject a bid worth £30m from Brighton and that is a clear indication of the fact that either Liverpool have to do better than the Seagulls’ bid or Chelsea do not have any interest in selling Levi Colwill.

Colwill’s loan spell at Brighton showcased his potential and drew attention from several clubs, including Liverpool. His performances demonstrated his ability to excel at the top level and suggested a bright future ahead.

What next for Colwill

However, Chelsea’s refusal to entertain offers below their valuation indicates their belief in Colwill’s potential and their desire to continue his development within their setup, and credit where due, the Blues are smart at it.

Only time will tell if Liverpool will come back with an improved offer or explore other defensive options in the transfer market. Anfield could prove to be an extremely good choice for the player given the Reds’ expertise in moulding top talents into world-class players.

Ultimately, it is up to Chelsea to determine Colwill’s future. The Blues’ insistence on retaining the young defender certainly suggests that they see him as a valuable asset and a key part of their future plans.

For Liverpool and other interested clubs, it may obviously require a considerable offer to persuade Chelsea to reconsider their position.

Speaking of his contract, Colwill’s current deal at Stamford Bridge expires in 2025 (Transfermarkt). The Reds could also wait for one more season before trying again to lure Colwill to Anfield, subject only to the player not signing a contract extension.
