Liverpool could include buyback clause in Fabio Carvalho contract

Liverpool, who consider selling Fabio Carvalho this season, seem to have found a way around a deal in case they actually offload him later this summer.

As per Fabrizio Romano via Twitter, the Reds could include a buy-back clause in Fabio Carvalho‘s contract in case he sees himself out of Anfield over the summer transfer window amid speculation of him leaving the club.

Romano also reported RB Leipzig’s interest in the player. While Liverpool oppose the idea of a complete sale, the idea of including a buyback clause is certainly not a bad one.

Discussions between Liverpool and RB Leipzig regarding the buyback option are expected to take place soon. Both clubs will need to find common ground and agree on the specifics of the clause. The terms of the buyback option will determine the timeframe, fee, and other conditions under which Liverpool can bring Carvalho back to Anfield.

Carvalho to head elsewhere?

Having a buyback clause in Carvalho’s contract would benefit both parties. For Liverpool, it offers a safety net in case the 20-year-old flourishes elsewhere and they regret letting him go.

On the other hand, it gives the former Fulham man the opportunity to showcase his abilities and potentially return to Liverpool in the future if he proves himself.

The inclusion of buyback clauses has become a common practice in modern football, allowing clubs to protect their interests and retain control over promising young talents. It provides clubs with the chance to reevaluate a player’s development and make informed decisions about their future.

While the negotiations between Liverpool and RB Leipzig are yet to be finalized, the possibility of a buyback clause in Carvalho’s contract highlights the club’s strategic approach to player transfers.
