Dominik Szoboszlai admits to wanting to experience playing under Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp
Liverpool target and RB Leipzig playmaker Dominik Szoboszlai has expressed his desire to gain special experience by playing under Jurgen Klopp.
A few days ago, 90min (h/t Liverpool Echo) revealed that Liverpool sent scouts to watch Szoboszlai when he was playing against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
The Hungarian international is a subject of transfer interest from the Reds. He is also been eyed by Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Here’s what Szoboszlai said when asked about potentially working under a top manager like Klopp (Index, via Mirror):
“It would certainly be a special experience to work under Klopp.
“As it would be under (Manchester City boss Pep) Guardiola or (Roma’s) Jose Mourinho.
“I don’t know what they would be able to get out of me. Relatively few footballers are given all this (opportunity), however. Only the best. I believe I can reach that level, and it would be great to work with any of them one day.”
The 22-year-old is an attacking midfielder who can play as a number 10, as an attacking number eight, or as a winger on either flank.
The former Salzburg player is already captaining his national team, which is great for his experience and development at such a young age.
If we talk about this season, Szoboszlai got nine goals and 13 assists in 45 appearances in all competitions. He is technically very good on the ball, can create a lot of chances, is a master at picking up pockets of space to work in the final third, and has a good shot in him. He can be a ball-progressor from central midfield as well.
Liverpool are obviously in the market to sign central and defensive midfielders. They are close to completing a deal to get World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister, while the links with Manu Kone have resurfaced in the past couple of days.

With the type of player Szoboszlai is it would be interesting to see whether Klopp fancies signing him and converting him into a permanent number eight. The Hungarian has the flexibility to pursue that challenge and succeed. It is one to keep an eye on as the summer window starts soon.
