Liverpool stars Diogo Jota, Fabinho, and Joel Matip are working to get their UEFA coaching badges

As per Liverpool Echo, three first-team Liverpool players – Diogo Jota, Fabinho and Joel Matip are spending time away from football by working towards getting UEFA coaching badges.

Last week, the trio hosted a coaching session at the AXA training ground for the Robbie Fowler Academy. They were joined by young Academy talents to carry out various coaching qualifications.

We have seen the likes of Adam Lallana and James Milner taking time away from the game to work towards getting their coaching badges. So this from Fabinho, Jota, and Matip is not uncommon.

It is actually good to see current players taking the initiative to begin their coaching lessons early so that they are close to being ready to take a job when their playing career is over.

Football coaching and management is an arduous task in the modern day. The pressure is just too much to handle at times. Keeping that in mind, it is encouraging to see top-level players doing their bit to learn the art.

Fabinho has been the leader of Liverpool’s midfield over the last few years. In a position where he plays, the player has to have a greater tactical understanding of the game. Hence, we generally have loads of midfielders and defenders becoming football managers.

Jota, on the other hand, although a forward, has the technical quality and a great football brain to find spaces in the opposition box even when he is not a tall or physically strong player. The amount of headers he scores is a testament to the way he finds spaces where there is very little.

Let’s hope these players continue their learning, get the coaching badges soon, have a good break in the summer and come back refreshed for the pre-season next month.
