Liverpool plan to hijack AC Milan deal for Daichi Kamada

Liverpool look to thwart AC Milan’s plans to sign Daichi Kamada this summer, despite the midfielder allegedly already verbally agreeing to join the Rossoneri.

Daichi Kamada, who enjoyed an impressive season with Frankfurt, scoring 16 goals and providing seven assists, has attracted interest from Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, and Benfica, according to Italian publication Calciomercato via ECHO who also mentioned the Reds’ intention of hijacking AC Milan for the Japanese international.

The 26-year-old Japanese midfielder’s contract with Frankfurt expires at the end of this month, making him an attractive prospect for several top clubs. AC Milan had been aiming to finalize a deal with Kamada at the beginning of the upcoming week, hoping to fend off reported interest from Anfield. However, Liverpool’s determination to secure the talented midfielder suggests that the transfer saga may not be over just yet.

Kamada’s remarkable form in the 2022/23 season has undoubtedly caught the attention of Liverpool’s scouting team, who see his goal-scoring prowess and creative abilities as valuable additions to their squad.

Kamada to the Reds?

Jurgen Klopp’s side is keen to bolster their midfield options and Kamada’s skill set aligns perfectly with their playing style and ambitions.

While AC Milan seemed to have the upper hand in securing Kamada’s signature, Liverpool’s interest signals their willingness to enter the race and compete for the talented Japanese midfielder.

In 46 appearances across all competitions this season, he scored 16 goals and has seven assists to top it off as well. While a deal actually getting through for the Reds seems a tad bit out of reach, there’s surely no harm in trying.

However, adding another attacking midfielder when the deal for Alexis Mac Allister is almost through, is surely a case of wants more than needs. The Reds should instead focus on getting on board a proper box-to-box player who could put in a hard tackle.

There is certainly no denying that Kamada is an extremely talented player, but having two extremely good players of the same attributes vying for the same place when there is an absolute necessity for a player of another kind, we are rather better off leaving Kamada for the Rossoneri.
