Liverpool target Dominik Szoboszlai desires to play under Jurgen Klopp
Adding fuel to the already hot burning fire of transfer speculation, Liverpool transfer target Dominik Szoboszlai of RB Leipzig spoke about how he desires to play under the Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp.
In an interview with Index via Liverpool ECHO, Szoboszlai shared his thoughts on the prospect of working with Klopp, alongside other esteemed managers such as Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho. Here is what he stated:
“It would certainly be a special experience to work under Klopp. As it would be under (Manchester City boss Pep) Guardiola or (Roma’s) Jose Mourinho.
“I don’t know what they would be able to get out of me. Relatively few footballers are given all this (opportunity), however.
‘Only the best. I believe I can reach that level, and it would be great to work with any of them one day.”
The RB Leipzig attacking midfielder, who is extremely sound technically, as opposed to a number of other Liverpool targets, is, dimensionally, more attacking and doesn’t play deeper roles as he prefers playing as a 10 or on the wings.
Szoboszlai’s admiration for Klopp offers a glimmer of hope for Liverpool fans who have been eagerly anticipating potential new additions to bolster the squad. The prospect of Szoboszlai bringing his technical skills, vision, and goal-scoring ability to Anfield is indeed enticing.
Szoboszlai to the Reds?
In 45 appearances across all competitions this season, he has scored nine goals and a further 13 assists to his name. As the summer transfer window approaches, Liverpool’s faithful will keep a keen eye on any developments surrounding the talented midfielder.
Most of his attributes are similar to that of Alexis Mac Allister, which makes one wonder whether the Reds need two players of almost the same kind.
While there is surely no denying his talent, assuming that Liverpool get the Mac Allister deal through, would need a box-to-box midfielder to negate the attacking prowess.
The players have similar on-the-ball attributes, but defensively, Mac Allister just offers that tad bit more than Szoboszlai even statistically (whoscored.com), and that is something that the Reds will need to assess and decide on which player offers the best for the club.
