Arsenal are in advanced negotiations to sign Liverpool target Declan Rice
According to The Telegraph (Subscription Required) [h/t Liverpool Echo], Arsenal are closing in on Liverpool’s target and West Ham United captain Declan Rice.
Rice has been one of the standout midfielders in the Premier League and looks set for a switch to a top club this summer window. He has been linked with a move to the Reds in recent months.
After winning the UEFA Conference league with West Ham, it was confirmed by the Hammers chairman David Sullivan that Rice would be allowed to leave the club in the summer.
Certainly, all top have shown interest in the player with Liverpool being one of the teams vying for his signature. However, it seems like Arsenal are winning the race to sign the midfielder at the moment and are planning to make their first formal bid.
The race is on but Arsenal definitely have more advantages heading into this as firstly, they are offering Champions League football and secondly, the factor of staying in London would also be important.
The club did very well to complete the signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion early in June and now can move forward with other targets.
We still need more quality depth in midfield. There is absolutely no point in sitting around and patting ourselves on the back for signing Mac Allister. There is still a lot of work to be done to reinforce our midfield.

Rice is definitely one of the targets but it remains to be seen whether Liverpool are willing to enter a bidding war with Arsenal or move forward with other targets such as Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram who have been recently linked with the club.
