Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga addresses Liverpool transfer speculation
Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga has responded to recent speculation linking him with a potential move to Liverpool. The 21-year-old midfielder, who has been in impressive form, has emerged as a reported target for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Gabri Veiga, currently representing Spain in the U21 Euros, expressed his happiness at his current club, Celta Vigo, and remained focused on the tournament. Liverpool are ‘firm favourites’ to land the player. When asked about his future, Veiga told SPORT via ECHO this:
“It was a spectacular season, what I did is a dream, and in the club of my life, and I’m happy about it. Right now I don’t think about the future, the present is the national team, the only thing I can say is that I go through the European Championship and then win it.”
Veiga’s comments suggest that his immediate priority is performing well for Spain’s U21 team and achieving success in the tournament. And obviously, he would remain as diplomatic as one could be when it comes to addressing transfer speculation by dodging the question like a true professional.
Veiga’s performances for Celta Vigo have caught the attention of several clubs, and it is understandable that Liverpool would be among those interested in his services. His technical ability, vision, and creativity make him an intriguing prospect for any top-level team.
Veiga to the Reds?
However, Liverpool will respect Veiga’s statement about his commitment to Celta Vigo and his current focus on the U21 Euros. They will certainly continue their pursuit of midfield additions, considering other potential targets who can contribute to their style of play and complement their existing squad.
There is surely no need to run it back on how desperate Liverpool currently are for quality midfielders as even casuals would be fully aware of the situation at Merseyside and the depth of the situation.
For Veiga, his future may still be open to possibilities beyond the U21 Euros. Should he continue to impress and attract interest from top clubs, he may have important decisions to make regarding his career path and hopefully, that means joining Liverpool.
However, as of now, he remains fully dedicated to his national team duties and remains focused on achieving success in the tournament as per his own words.
