Borussia Monchengladbach hope to receive Liverpool bid for Manu Kone
Borussia Monchengladbach are in expectation of a bid from Liverpool for their 22-year-old central midfielder Manu Kone.
According to German reporter Christian Falk writing exclusively for Caught Offside, the Bundesliga side expect a bid from the Reds and value their player over £34m. Other clubs monitoring Kone‘s situation include Paris Saint-Germain, Aston Villa and Wolves, all of whom have an ‘outside chance’.
The Frenchman is a deep-lying playmaker who would ideally be an understudy for Fabinho in the initial few seasons if he decides to make the switch to Merseyside. Let’s just hope a return to his homeland with PSG doesn’t appeal to him.
A number of departures in midfield surely mean that the Reds do not have enough depth in the middle of the park, and as we have seen before as well, one injury could hamper the Reds’ chances of getting the best possible finish in the league stage.
There is probably no other Premier League team who would understand the importance of squad depth more than us as it has cost us a Premier League title or two in recent seasons. This season as well, we could not even finish in a UCL spot.
The Reds should ideally emphasize getting all of their transfer business sorted out as quickly as possible before other teams get into a comfortable situation in the race to sign Kone.
The upcoming U21 Euros will help Kone in showcasing his talent on the biggest of stages. He sees himself in the France squad alongside Khephren Thuram, who is also on the Reds’ radar.
With a wide range of passing and ability to carry the ball, Kone could surely contribute in more ways than one to the Reds’ cause.

Kone would surely have a lot to learn in case he moves to the Reds, and hopefully, he does. There is surely a lot of demand for midfielders at Merseyside, and having Kone would surely not hurt Liverpool by any means.
