A £44m bid is prepared by Bayern Munich to sign Liverpool target Federico Chiesa

As per Italian outlet Tutto Mercato (h/t Liverpool Echo), Bayern Munich are preparing a £44m bid to sign Juventus winger and Liverpool target Federico Chiesa.

Chelsea’s name also lurks around the Italian international, who might be cashed in by Juventus this summer.

Bayern, on the other hand, are aiming to bolster their forward line ahead of the start of the next season. They have been a bit light in wide areas with former Liverpool star Sadio Mane not doing much in his first season for them.

Chiesa is an exciting winger who can play either side of a striker. He played a key part in Italy lifting the Euros two years ago.

But, since the start of the 2021/22 season, the 25-year-old has struggled with loads of injuries. If he is fit this pre-season, any team that has him would get better going forward.

Liverpool have spent a lot of money in the last 18 months to sign Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo and bolster the forward line in preparation for the departure of Mane and Roberto Firmino.

This summer, it is mostly about signing multiple midfielders and adding a defender or two to the squad.

So, it might not be that bad a piece of news if Bayern decide to make a bid to sign Chiesa. The Italian is a fantastic player who is currently not needed at Liverpool.

Since signing Alexis Mac Allister a few days ago, there hasn’t been much progress for the Reds with other transfer targets.

The pre-season is still more than two weeks away, but most of the transfer business must be done by then so that the new signings join the squad as early in the preparatory camps as possible.
