Liverpool to play the waiting game before making a bid for French midfielder Khephren Thuram
As per Nice-Matin, via Get French Football News (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are set to wait till the end of the U-21 European Championships before making a move for Khephren Thuram.
Thuram, son of French great Lillian, has been the Reds’ target for some time. He will represent his country in the aforementioned tournament which started this week.
The Championship will run until 8th July, the same day when the Liverpool pre-season starts. So, it seems like the club is not bothered about making the signings as early as possible. they would rather wait for their targets than jump the gun.
It is a fair enough strategy if the deal eventually happens. If not, then there won’t be many people patting the back of the recruitment team for the mess up.
After signing Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton even before the summer window started, things have gone quiet for Liverpool in the market. We are confused about whether this is the calm before the storm or whether they have encountered problems in signing their transfer targets.
There aren’t many doubts about how good a player Thuram is. He is a complete package in central midfield who can run the game through his ball carry, physical strength, robust tackling, and excellent passing and can impact games in and between both boxes.
Liverpool do lack a midfielder of that attribute combination for some time now. Especially under Jurgen Klopp where midfielders have to be technically and tactically spot on, a player like Thuram fits in the mould like most Reds signings have done under the German.

Although it is slightly bizarre to wait for so many days to approach a deal for a transfer target, we can only hope that it works out.
