As per Spanish outlet AS (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool and Real Madrid are among the clubs eyeing a move for young Turkish star Arda Guler this summer.
Apart from the Reds and Madrid, Benfica, AC Milan and Sevilla are also interested in the player who is nicknamed ‘Turkish Messi”.
Guler, who plays for Turkish side Fenerbahce, has a contract with them until the summer of 2025 (Transfermarkt). His contract does have a release clause of £15m
that can be activated by interested parties. The 18-year-old scored a beautiful goal for Turkey against Wales in the Euros qualifier a few days ago to further catch the eye of many across the continent.
He played just over 1500 minutes for Fenerbahce during the 2022/23 season and scored six and assisted seven goals (Transfermarkt).
Guler is an elegant left-footed attacking midfielder who can operate as a number eight with an eye for goals. He is good at dribbling past people, creating chances in the final third, scoring goals from midfield and working extremely hard defensively.
In the 22/23 Turkish league, he averaged two dribbles and key passes per game along with a pass accuracy of 85%. He also made 1.3 tackles per game (Whoscored
).Although still young, the Turk has the qualities of a player who could do well under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
His versatility would mean that Klopp can use him in various positions across the central and attacking midfield areas.
The other good part about this potential transfer is the affordable fee. We know Liverpool are not fond of spending big on players all the time. Hence, a £15m
