Liverpool ready to make a move for Chelsea star Levi Colwill
From what it appears, the Reds are taking their interest in Levi Colwill to the next step as Liverpool are ready to make a move for the 20-year-old centre-back.
That is as per 90min via ECHO. Following on from talkSPORT‘s earlier claims of the Reds fighting with Brighton and Hove Albion for Colwill’s signature, it now seems that the Reds could launch a bid anytime soon for the player, who Chelsea do not wish to sell.
The 20-year-old caught the eye during his loan spell at Brighton last season and was recently part of England’s triumphant U21 Euros squad, where they impressively did not concede a single goal.
Adding depth and competition in the centre-back position is crucial for Liverpool, particularly after a season marred by defensive issues. Colwill’s arrival would provide a fresh and exciting option alongside the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip.
The young defender’s performances for Brighton last season demonstrated his composure, positional awareness, and ability to read the game effectively. These attributes, combined with his impressive showing in the U21 Euros, have undoubtedly caught the attention of Liverpool’s scouting network.
Securing Colwill’s services would not only strengthen Liverpool’s defensive options but also provide an opportunity for his continued development under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp and the coaching staff.
Adding a young and talented centre-back like Colwill would not only bolster Liverpool’s defensive options but also provide healthy competition within the squad.
It would offer Klopp the flexibility to rotate his backline and maintain a high level of performance throughout the season as we are likely to experiment a number of formations before slotting into one which suits the club best.
