Liverpool target Benjamin Pavard linked with Manchester City
Manchester City have apparently identified Liverpool target and Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard as their top choice for a new right-back.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has indicated on his YouTube channel (h/t Liverpool Echo) that City sees Pavard as a priority in the event of Kyle Walker’s potential move to Bayern Munich.
While a deal for Walker appears advanced but not completed, discussions between Bayern and City will also involve the possibility of Pavard’s transfer.
Pavard saw himself linked with a move to the Reds, as he expressed his desire to leave the Allianz Arena. He can play as a right-back as well as in central defense — much like Joe Gomez.
However, the recent decrease in rumours surrounding his potential move to Anfield means it may not be a major blow to Liverpool’s transfer plans. Nevertheless, it is evident that acquiring Pavard would significantly strengthen our league rivals in Manchester City.
While the potential addition of Pavard to City’s squad is a concern, Liverpool boasts a talented and determined group of players who have proven their mettle on numerous occasions. While the links between Pavard and Liverpool may have quieted down in recent days, it is crucial to remember that plans can swiftly change, and new opportunities can arise.
With this transfer speculation, one thing gets certain. Our rivals are on the constant run to strengthen themselves from time to time and we need to do so as well, to remain competitive and at the top of the European game for as long as possible.
As the transfer window progresses, Liverpool fans will be keeping a watchful eye on developments regarding their rivals, including Manc City’s pursuit of Pavard.
