Barcelona want to sell Liverpool midfield target this summer

Barcelona want to sell Liverpool target Franck Kessie

Barcelona’s decision to sell Franck Kessie has sparked interest from various clubs, including Liverpool. However, the Ivorian midfielder seems uninterested in potential moves to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal or Juventus as these two clubs show interest in the Ivorian.

According to reports from Marca via Daily Mail, Kessie has expressed a preference to either remain at Barcelona or join a Premier League team. This news will undoubtedly capture the attention of Liverpool, who had been monitoring the talented midfielder’s situation. However, links in recent weeks have quieted meaning the Reds’ interest in the player may be dying down.

Kessie’s arrival at Barcelona last summer from AC Milan was met with great anticipation, and he quickly became an integral part of Xavi’s squad. His contributions played a crucial role in Barcelona’s triumphant La Liga campaign in the 2022-23 season, showcasing his talent and versatility in midfield.

Liverpool’s interest in Kessie is not surprising, given his skill set and proven ability to thrive at the highest level. The 26-year-old possesses a unique blend of defensive solidity, technical proficiency, and goal-scoring prowess, making him an attractive target for many top clubs.

Do we need Kessie?

With Kessie’s preference for either remaining at Barcelona or joining a Premier League side, Liverpool could be an appealing destination for the Ivorian. The allure of playing under Jurgen Klopp’s renowned management and being part of the club’s storied history could be factors that sway Kessie’s decision.

However, Liverpool will face competition from other Premier League clubs, notably Arsenal and Tottenham who showed interest previously as well, if they decide to pursue Kessie.

While Kessie’s availability may have initially piqued interest, Liverpool’s ability to identify and secure the services of other talented midfielders presents a more enticing proposition for the club and its fans. We could surely do better than settling for a one-time target instead of actively pursuing other players who could possess the same skillset.

The coming weeks will provide Liverpool with ample opportunities to finalize deals and introduce new signings to the Anfield faithful but having said that, Kessie is surely not a bad option. We could show patience and get better players.
