Liverpool made aware of the price tag for Crystal Palace star Cheick Doucoure
Crystal Palace are not reluctant to let go of their Player of the Season, Cheick Doucoure as Liverpool show interest in the player. And that is evident in their valuation of the player at a decent £35m.
That is as per Football Insider via ECHO. In other circumstances, Palace would’ve asked for more but Liverpool are lucking out in this scenario. They should not think twice before investing this amount to secure Doucoure‘s services. While he may not be a household name yet, people in South London know what a workhorse the player is. And that is not even his best trait.
His passing range and ball interception put him alongside the best young midfielders. To put that into perspective, before Aurelien Tchouameni’s move to Real Madrid, the Frenchman was ranked #1 in ball interceptions in Ligue 1. Doucoure came second only to him during his time at Lens. Funnily enough, both are on the Reds’ radar at the moment and given Los Blancos‘ reluctance to let go of Tchouameni, a move for the 23-year-old Mali international seems much more realistic.
Crystal Palace have been great scouts in recent years and regularly got quality players on board. And for Liverpool, instead of spending big money on superstars, we could go the other way by getting on board promising young talents who eventually become superstars at Anfield.
Doucoure to the Reds?
Liverpool are already bracing themselves for the potential departure of Fabinho, with Al Ittihad expressing keen interest in securing the Brazilian’s signature. The potential void left by Fabinho’s departure has intensified Liverpool’s search for a capable replacement, and Doucoure emerged as a promising target.
Even though the amount is substantial, £35m for a club like Liverpool should ideally not stand as a huge threat. At least given the market rates for midfielders at the moment.
