Jurgen Klopp sends message to Liverpool fans for new season
Jurgen Klopp has asked Liverpool fans to ‘trust’ the team ahead of the 2023-24 season. The Reds had a brilliant 2021-22 season.
We nearly won the quadruple and were fighting on all fronts until the last month of the season. Two domestic cup competitions were all we could manage that season.
But fans hoped that the club could go one better in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League in the following campaign. That didn’t happen.
We didn’t do a Chelsea — who finished 12th in the table — and did well to finish fifth after a strong end to the campaign. But a top-four finish was seen as the bare minimum.
Liverpool gunning for glory
Not to mention, we were truly terrible in all cup competitions. Klopp has said that the team feels responsible for what transpired and has asked fans to trust the squad to put it right next season.
He told the club media:
“Of course, the last years, nearly winning the quadruple but not doing it actually, and then having the season we had, that can create some doubt, I know that. Then people want to change – on one day they want to change the team on 12 positions and then the next day only one.
“And then we change and then it’s the wrong player, ‘No, no, not him’ and stuff like this. What I would like to ask for: trust us. We feel really responsible for what’s happening here and we will do absolutely everything to have a season, in the best possible understanding, we will never forget. That’s the plan.”
Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all strengthening their team to a big extent. We have been lagging behind in the transfer market once again.
Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai aren’t enough. We need at least two more quality midfielders if Jordan Henderson and Fabinho Tavares leave. A new centre-back should also be on our list.

Klopp is a wonderful coach who has a great team at his disposal. But our owners have to ensure that he is properly backed and has all the tools at his disposal to work his magic, just like Pep Guardiola does at Manchester City — the team we have competed with directly in the Klopp-Pep era in England.
