“Joy to watch”- Jurgen Klopp lauds up-and-coming Liverpool teenager

Jurgen Klopp talks about Liverpool youngster Ben Doak

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is beaming with pride as he heaps praise on the young talent emerging from the club’s academy. Ben Doak, the 17-year-old winger, caught Klopp’s eye last season and is leaving a lasting impression on the first-team manager during this pre-season.

Having joined Liverpool’s youth system from Celtic’s youth team in July 2022, Doak’s progress has been nothing short of impressive. With 27 appearances for the club’s youth teams across all competitions and an impressive tally of 11 goals and eight assists as a right winger, he has been turning heads in the academy ranks. Doak started today’s pre-season match against Furth over Mo Salah and left a good impression on Klopp

who earlier spoke about Doak to the club’s official podcast.

“Ben Doak, still 17, but he is just a joy to watch! With all the little struggles he has with losing the ball here and there, but the bravery, speed and the power is so cool to see.”

Klopp’s words reflect the excitement and admiration that Doak’s performances have generated at the club.

While Doak is still young and has areas to improve, Klopp highlights his bravery, speed, and power as standout qualities. The winger’s fearlessness on the pitch and ability to take on opponents with pace and vigour are qualities that bode well for his future development.

Doak’s Growing Stature

It is not uncommon for young players to experience some struggles on their journey to the first team. Klopp acknowledges this but remains impressed with the progress and potential displayed by Doak, even in the face of occasional challenges.

Having a player like Doak at the moment is like striking gold for Liverpool as he has all the time in the world to develop himself within the first-team setup as an understudy to Mohamed Salah, who is the best player in that position of a right-winger.

Jurgen Klopp is full of praise for Liverpool starlet Ben Doak.

As the 2023-24 season approaches, Klopp and the Liverpool coaching staff will continue to keep a close eye on Doak’s progress. His performances during pre-season have certainly given the manager food for thought ahead of the new campaign.
