“We left him and Thiago”- Jurgen Klopp provides update on Liverpool duo’s injuries

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp sheds light on Thiago and Stefan Bajcetic injuries

As Liverpool gear up for their final leg of pre-season in Singapore, there are notable absentees from the 27-man squad. Both Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic will not be making the trip, as they continue their rehabilitation back in Merseyside.

Jurgen Klopp speaking to the club’s official website shed light on their situation, and here is what he had to say:

“Stefan is in the last steps back into team training. We left him and Thiago at home because the travel will cost him maybe three or four days of training so it makes no sense with his rehab. The plan is he is back in team training when we are back home.”

The decision to keep them in Merseyside is a sensible one, considering the need to prioritize their rehabilitation and ensure they return to full fitness. Travelling long distances and adjusting to different time zones could hamper their progress, and Klopp is keen to avoid any setbacks in their recovery process.

The absence of Thiago Alcantara is especially noteworthy, given his technical brilliance and ability to control the midfield. Liverpool fans have been eager to witness more of Thiago’s mesmerizing performances on the pitch, and while it is disappointing to see him missing from the squad, it is crucial that the club takes a cautious approach to his return.

Similarly, Stefan, who impressed during last season, will need to remain nurtured carefully. As he nears a return to team training, the coaching staff will ensure that he is brought back into the fold at the right pace, safeguarding his long-term development.

The absence of Thiago and Bajcetic presents an opportunity for other players in the squad to step up and make an impression during the pre-season matches against Leicester City and Bayern Munich. This time also provides an excellent chance for the manager to evaluate the squad depth and make necessary adjustments before the start of the Premier League campaign.

Injuries are a natural part of football, and Klopp understands the importance of proper rehabilitation and careful management. With both these central midfielders not a part of the action, Klopp can experiment with Trent in midfield.
