Mohamed Salah ‘committed to Liverpool’ amid Saudi links
Al Ittihad can put their dreams of signing Liverpool star Mohamed Salah to bed. Ramy Abbas Issa, the Egyptian’s agent made it public knowledge that Mo remains committed to the Reds’ cause and has no intentions of moving.
Reports from Saudi Arabia on Sunday night claimed Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad had approached Salah’s representatives over a lucrative deal to move to the Middle East – which would see the 31-year-old bank €180m over two seasons. Thanks to his agent, these rumours can rest in peace now. Here is what his Tweet read:
“If we considered leaving LFC this year, we wouldn’t have renewed the contract last summer. Mohamed remains committed to LFC.”
This simple statement is like a soothing balm to the anxious hearts of the Liverpool faithful, as it underscores the meticulous thought and long-term planning that have gone into Salah’s journey with the club.
At a time when the footballing landscape is rife with narratives of players seeking new pastures, chasing astronomical paychecks, or bowing to the allure of unfamiliar territories, Salah’s steadfast loyalty is absolutely priceless for Liverpool and the supporters.
Priceless, Mo!
His current deal with the club lasts until 2025 (Transfermarkt). Abbas’s words provide a simple but powerful truth: if there were any inklings of leaving Liverpool behind this year, the renewal of that contract would have never transpired. In essence, the renewal was not just a signature on a dotted line; it was a reaffirmation of loyalty and a declaration of intent.
It is not like we do not know what Salah wants. He has time and again spoken of how he wants to retire at Liverpool. Given his contributions to the club, it is certainly tough to see why that cannot happen. He surely is not showing any signs of slowing down, and the upcoming season promises much more after the disappointing campaign last time.
As Liverpool fans, we find solace in these words. We know that the man who has dazzled Anfield with his goals, his speed, and his indomitable spirit is not just a transient figure passing through. He is surely part of the fabric of Liverpool Football Club.
