Crystal Palace ‘pushing’ to sign Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones this summer

Premier League rivals Crystal Palace are ‘pushing’ to sign Liverpool star Curtis Jones in the ongoing transfer window, according to Caught Offside (h/t Liverpool Echo).

The 22-year-old is attracting interest from the Eagles this summer. As things stand, the Selhurst Park side are weighing up whether to make a move for the midfielder in the coming weeks.

To that end, the South London-based club are yet to decide whether to propose a loan deal with an option to buy or table a fee. At the moment, nothing is advanced between the two parties.

Jones made his way through the youth ranks at the Anfield side before making a place for himself in the senior squad in the 2020/21 term. But over the years, the youngster has mostly been a bit-part player for the Reds.

The English national has been unable to make a place for himself in the starting lineup yet. In the previous campaign, the midfielder made 24 appearances in all competitions for the Reds, scoring three goals and providing three assists.

However, with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho leaving Liverpool this summer, a change of guard is set to take place in the Merseyside outfit’s engine room. But it seems difficult for Jones to make a place for himself.

We have signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai this summer. Brighton & Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo could also be making his way to the Anfield side soon after an agreement was reached between the Reds and the Seagulls.

The three aforementioned players are arguably more talented than Jones at this stage. Therefore, it will evidently be difficult for the midfielder to get into Jurgen Klopp’s plans once again next season. Thus, it seems like the best option for the English national to further his development is a move to a team like Crystal Palace.
