Chelsea goalie Kepa to miss Liverpool game ahead of Real Madrid move
Whether it turns out to be an advantage for Liverpool or not, it surely is a piece of news for the Reds. Chelsea goalie Kepa Arrizzabalaga would not take part against Jurgen Klopp’s men this Sunday in the Premier League opener ahead of his loan move to Real Madrid.
Summer incoming Robert Sanchez, from Brighton might put in a shift for him in goal. Following the ACL injury to Thibaut Courtois, Real Madrid saw themselves in the market for a goalkeeper and zeroed down on Kepa albeit on loan. Fabrizio Romano provided an update on this situation via Twitter.
“Kepa won’t be involved in Chelsea game tomorrow as he’s planning to travel to Madrid soon — waiting for confirmation from Real Madrid. The verbal agreement is done, loan until June 2024 — here we go, confirmed.”
Adding to the six players missing out due to injury issues, the absence of Kepa would surely not be an ideal situation for Chelsea. The 28-year-old is one of the few remaining players who is in touch with the recent history of Chelsea.
For Liverpool, this development could potentially represent an advantage, with Kepa’s absence creating a shift in the Chelsea lineup. The uncertainty surrounding Chelsea’s goalkeeping situation, with the experienced Kepa out and the newly arrived Sanchez in, could surely factor into Liverpool’s approach to the game.
No Kepa for the Blues
As the Premier League opener approaches, the absence of Kepa and the introduction of Sanchez surely inject an element of unpredictability into the equation. Liverpool’s attack, led by the likes of Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Luis Diaz alongside Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez could certainly look to capitalize on any potential vulnerabilities in Chelsea’s defensive setup.
Time will tell how Chelsea’s managerial staff will adapt to this sudden change and how Sanchez will handle the pressure of making his debut in such a high-stakes encounter.
For Liverpool, the task at hand is clear – seize the opportunity presented by the altered dynamics and kick-start their Premier League campaign with a strong showing against their formidable rivals.
