As per a tweet from Saudi publication Al Kass, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has given Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad the green light for negotiating a transfer this summer.
It was only a few days ago when Salah’s agent rubbished claims that he is moving to the middle east this summer having signed a new contract with the Reds 12 months ago.
At the time, it was reported that Al-Ittihad could offer the Egyptian superstar wages up to £77m per year
. We all know earning in Saudi is tax-free.Here’s the content of the tweet that resurfaced this rumour:
“Sources for the cup:
“The Egyptian international Mohamed Salah gave the green light to manage the Al-Ittihad club to negotiate with its counterpart in the English Liverpool club to play within the ranks of the federation during the current summer transfer period.”
Without jumping the gun on any conclusion, isn’t it ironic that the day after Salah showed little dissent when got substituted off in a game these rumours have rekindled themselves?
Regarding that dissent incident, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has already put water to the situation by saying he would be surprised if the player had not shown any emotion when coming off with close to 15 minutes of the game still left at 1-1.
While that is not a worry, it is concerning how rapidly the Saudi league is advancing itself in terms of the quality of players they are signing this summer.
We have taken the brunt of that when Fabinho and Jordan Henderson left. They are closing in on a deal to get Neymar Jr. while Sadio Mane has joined Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr.
So, Salah – the face of the Arab world, could well be tempted with a move to that part of the world, isn’t it? The clubs there are not short of money too. So, anything they offer cannot be matched by Liverpool. Worrying times considering the amount of business the Reds still have to do to get their squad right.
