Liverpool step up their efforts to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure

As per Miguel Delaney for the Independent, Liverpool are stepping up their efforts to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure in this transfer window.

It is revealed that the personal terms won’t be an issue as the Mali international is keen on a move to Anfield this summer.

Although Palace are wary of losing too many key players in one window, a price of around £60m might be enough to make them sell Doucoure. At the end of the day, every player has a price regardless of whether you want to sell him or not.

Liverpool are in a desperate situation in the transfer market after missing out on their top defensive midfield targets Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea.

The whole world knows that the Reds scrambling to sign at least one defensive midfielder within the next 14 days.

Doucoure had an excellent first season with Palace after moving from RC Lens. The 23-year-old may not be the most appealing to the eye, but he can do a job as a lone number six and win the ball back for the team. His basic passing numbers are decent as well.

The Mali international possessed a passing accuracy of 84% along with 2.3 tackles and 1.6 interceptions per game. He won 55% of the ground duels contested which is very good (generally 60% is the benchmark for winning ground duels) [Sofascore].

Sounds like a player who could make this Liverpool team better. Moreover, he is only 23, so it is not as if the development side of his game would have stopped by now.
