Liverpool are eyeing a move for PSV forward Johan Bakayoko if Mohamed Salah leaves

As per a report on Football Insider (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool eye a succession plan move, if Mohamed Salah leaves, by targeting PSV Eindhoven forward Johan Bakayoko.

As promising as the link is containing the player, it seems a bit stretched that the Reds are considering a season without Salah at the moment.

There has been interest from Saudi Arabia for the Egyptian king, but it was not long ago that his agent tweeted to put those rumours to rest. After all, the former Roma winger signed a new deal with the club last summer itself.

Coming back to Bakayoko, he is a talented young forward who is linked with Paris-Saint Germain and Napoli along with Liverpool.

The Belgian international is a left-footed right winger who started out as a youth player at Brugge and Anderlecht before moving to the PSV U17s in 2019.

The 20-year-old made his senior debut for the Dutch side during the second half of the 2021/22 season.

He has made 41 appearances in all competitions so far, scoring seven and assisting seven goals. (Transfermarkt).

With regard to attributes, Bakayoko possesses terrific pace to trouble defenders, completed dribbles at a success rate of 63% and produced key passes at 1.1 per game in the Eredivisie last season (Sofascore).

Although he may not be an option for now, the 20-year-old has the qualities to be an excellent winger for years to come.

There will be a day when Salah (31) leaves Liverpool. So, keeping Bakayoko as one of the options for the long-term replacement of the Egyptian star won’t be a bad choice.
