Liverpool welcome Thiago Alcantara back in full training ahead of the weekend clash against Bournemouth

According to Liverpool Echo, Thiago Alcantara is back in full training for Liverpool ahead of the clash against Bournemouth this Saturday.

Thiago, who has been out of action since May due to a hip injury, did not play a single pre-season game as he came for full training halfway through.

So, all the Spaniard has done so far in preparation for this campaign is get back to full fitness and train with the team.

Jurgen Klopp has to find a way to give him some minutes here and there so that the 33-year-old is able to gain match fitness.

There might be a case for the manager giving Thiago a 20-minute cameo against Bournemouth. If he comes through that unscathed, then we could think of him potentially starting against Newcastle United the following Saturday.

Although Liverpool are not desperate for the Spaniard to come back as they have options in midfield as of now, it is always good to have a player of his calibre to be in the matchday squad every week.

Having seen the Reds lose control against Chelsea at the Bridge, someone like Thiago could have calmed things down in midfield and restored some parity.

Let’s not look at the what-ifs and enjoy the fact that the former Barcelona man is back fit. His injury record has unfortunately not been very good since coming to Anfield.

The 33-year-old was wanted by Saudi Arabia this summer, but he refused the offer and decided to stay at Liverpool during his final year of contract here.
