Jurgen Klopp has not ruled out more signings at Liverpool this summer

Speaking to the media ahead of the Bournemouth game, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has not ruled out the possibility of making more signings before the transfer window deadline.

The Reds announced the arrival of defensive midfielder Wataru Endo from Stuttgart earlier in the day. The Japanese international and captain becomes the third midfield addition to the squad in this transfer window.

But, knowing how many midfielders have left the club this summer, it would only be viable if the adequate slots are filled to make sure the squad is ready to challenge on all fronts.

Here’s what Klopp said when asked what Liverpool will do regarding transfers in the coming days (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“The window is still open and until then pretty much everything can happen.

“On the outgoing side, nothing will happen. Incoming, there is still time so let’s have a look.”

Feels like we could see the Reds making more signings before the 31st of August. Looking at the squad after Endo’s arrival, they could do with another defensive midfielder and then switch focus to bolstering the central defence, especially on the left-hand side.

It has been revealed of late that Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure is Liverpool’s top target. Palace won’t want to lose him without finding a replacement though. But, what the Reds can do is flex their financial muscle and pay the premium to sign the Mali international.

Whatever the club does from now till the end of this window, they have definitely left it late. But, it is not the time to sulk. Instead, they must be ready to roll their sleeves up and get the business as soon as possible.

If the remaining signings are done before the Newcastle United game on 27th August, the new players can stake their claim to be available for the match against Aston Villa on September 3 before the international break comes.
