Crystal Palace are yet to receive an official offer from Liverpool for Cheick Doucoure
As per a tweet from Ed Aarons of the Guardian, while the Liverpool interest in Crystal Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure is genuine, they are yet to make an official offer.
In a report from Dom Smith for the Evening Standard, the Mali international is priced around £70m by the Eagles while the Reds would want to sign him below £58m.
It is more than a day now since Miguel Delaney wrote in the Independent that Liverpool are advancing in this deal and the player would have no hesitation in coming to Anfield this summer.
Given how the club got done over in the Moises Caicedo deal, it feels more important for the Reds to agree on personal terms rather than just the fee between the clubs. Generally, the latter is tougher.
Liverpool are in the market for a defensive midfielder. They are close to signing Wataru Endo but that should just be a backup addition.
With two weeks remaining in the window, it is high time the club quickens up their process and starts negotiating transfers in the final stages.
Doucoure, 23, is someone who makes this team better instantly. He is a ball-winner who can cover a vast amount of grass off the ball. He is more than decent on the ball and has a decent passing range.
There was a reason why the Mali international won the Fans’ Player of the Year at Palace for the 2022/23 season.
He is also at an age where he can both perform at the highest level consistently and develop as a player under Jurgen Klopp.
