“Find an opportunity”- Klopp hints at possible Liverpool farewell for two modern-day club icons

Jurgen Klopp wants Liverpool to send off Fabinho and Jordan Henderson

Jurgen Klopp envisions a fitting Anfield send-off for Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, two midfield maestros who etched their names into Liverpool FC’s glorious history.

The summer breeze brought unexpected changes to Merseyside as Fabinho and Henderson, revered figures in the Reds’ midfield, bid farewell to Liverpool. The 29-year-old Brazilian found a new home at Al Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League, while the 33-year-old captain embarked on a journey with Al-Ettifaq, a move that raised eyebrows among fans. Their departures marked an end to an era and left a void in the hearts of supporters who had witnessed their triumphs and leadership on and off the pitch. Here is what Klopp

had to say via ECHO:

“I will always be grateful for the farewell that Naby, Ox, Millie and Bobby were given at the end of last season, but the timings of the departures of Hendo and Fabinho means this has not yet been possible for them.”

As Liverpool welcomed Bournemouth in their second Premier League fixture of the season, it was the first time since 2018 that a Reds’ squad heading into a home game, did not have the services of both, Fabinho and Hendo.

It is very unusual to see Liverpool line up without both, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.

Klopp envisions a future where Henderson and Fabinho return to the embrace of the Kop for an emotional send-off. These two midfield dynamos, who played pivotal roles in Liverpool’s Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup triumphs, deserve the recognition that departing heroes James Milner, Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita received last season.

“In the case of Hendo and Fab, they both made a big, big difference and were a crucial part of everything that we have achieved so although I always want us to be looking ahead, we should also find an opportunity to show our appreciation for those who helped us in the past.”

In his heartfelt message during the matchday programme, Klopp penned his gratitude for the contributions of departing players. He expressed admiration for the farewells accorded to the likes of Milner, Firmino, Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Keita, acknowledging the club’s tradition of honouring those who’ve made an indelible impact.

However, the timing of Henderson and Fabinho’s exits meant that Anfield’s adoring faithful hadn’t yet been granted the opportunity to bid farewell to these giants of the midfield.

Former Liverpool stars Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

He believes that the club’s essence lies not just in forging ahead but also in acknowledging the past. The German maestro recognizes that Henderson and Fabinho were more than just players; they were architects of the club’s resurgence, pillars of its success story.
