Liverpool star Harvey Elliott talks about team improvements ahead of Newcastle trip

In two of Liverpool FC’s games in the season so far, the Reds have looked much better than they did for the entirety of last season. The likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have shaped the midfield in an admirable fashion. Moreover, Wataru Endo has also looked good in the few minutes he played against Bournemouth. Harvey Elliott made a brief appearance off the bench for Liverpool in both games and looked fairly decent.

Speaking to the club’s official website ahead of the game against Newcastle, Elliott (20) spoke about how the performances have been better, and how it is also important to carry on the momentum against the Magpies and also ahead in the season:

“For us, there’s improvements there as a team. I feel like we’ve been performing a lot better and playing good football. But as I keep saying, it’s just down to us to keep that momentum going and to keep doing that in these games coming up.”

These comments can not get any more precise. We looked solid against Chelsea, and better against Bournemouth. However, Newcastle away from home will pose the toughest challenge for the Reds. It is very important for Liverpool to capitalise on the win against the Cherries and continue the positive spell of form they are in.

One could expect a midfield trio of Endo in front of the backline with Szoboszlai and Macca on either side against Eddie Howe’s side. There is good competition for a spot in the midfield, but it is also true that we lack depth compared to our rivals.

Elliot for the Reds

Elliott’s insights leading up to the clash against Newcastle United reflect the team’s collective mindset. The importance of carrying forward the positive momentum cannot be overstated. Liverpool’s performances have indeed improved, and it’s crucial for the team to maintain this upward trajectory. His words capture the essence of the team’s determination to build on their recent successes and continue delivering performances that inspire the fans.

While the early-season performances have been promising, the true litmus test awaits in the form of the Newcastle United fixture. Playing away from home against a resilient opponent presents a challenge that the Reds must conquer. Capitalising on the victory against Bournemouth and translating that into success against Newcastle is of utmost importance.

Having said that, it is also important to note that Elliott’s impact off the bench has not gone unnoticed. The young midfielder has made brief yet impactful appearances in both games, showcasing his potential and leaving a positive impression.
