Liverpool reveal Dominik Szoboszlai’s jersey is the most popular shirt name and number; Mohamed Salah is in 2nd spot

Mohamed Salah is undoubtedly one of the world’s most famous athletes and more often than not, a Liverpool jersey worn by a fan has his name and number on the back.

But Dominik Szoboszlai seems to be the new fan favourite. The 22-year-old Austria international was signed from RB Leipzig this summer for £60million.

We had a big void to fill in midfield after Naby Keita, James Miler, Alex Oxlader-Chamberlain, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho’s departures. But he has been excellent under Jurgen Klopp.

Szobo has almost made fans get over Hendo’s departure this summer and is a constant threat from the centre of the field. Fans are responding to his performances and buying his jersey in great numbers.

Fans love Szobo

Liverpool’s official website revealed the latest list of the most popular names and numbers on the club jerseys right now, and the Hungarian star is at number one. The fact that he is wearing Steven Gerrard’s iconic No. 8 helps.

Alexis Mac Allister is at 3, followed by Trent Alexander-Arnold, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz, respectively. Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Andy Robertson complete the top 10 list.

It is a surprise to see Diogo Jota not on the list. But most of the names above are either established club legends or exciting new signings.

As for Szoboszlai, the sky is the limit for him. He can become a real icon at this club because he clearly has the ability to be a world-beater; if he isn’t one already.
